Shambhala Training - Level One
Sat & Sun, Nov 5 & 6

Please join us on November 5th and 6th for Shambhala Training Level One. Shambhala Training is a non-sectarian contemplative mediation path that emphasizes the development of genuine confidence, humor, and personal dignity within the complexities of daily life. Level One, "The Art of Being Human," leads to the discovery of basic goodness within ourselves and others. Through basic goodness, we connect to the immediacy of the moment in which our hearts can truly be touched.
You will be introduced to mindfulness meditation that will enable you to observe precisely your state of mind in a nonjudgmental manner. This practice cultivates openness toward ourselves and our world. Through meditation and exposure to the Shambhala teachings, it is possible to develop gentleness toward oneself and others, which is a step toward creating a better society.
This weekend's program consists of instruction in meditation, the practice of sitting and walking meditation in a group setting, one-on-one interviews, discussion groups, and talks by a senior teacher.
The Director for the weekend is Claude Zachery, who is a long-time student of the Shambhala Teachings. Mr. Zachary is a member of the Los Angeles Shambhala Meditation Center, 8218 W. Third St., Los Angeles, CA 90048 (la.shambhala.org/). He is an archivist and librarian at the University of Southern California.
