I want to like this place but I can't.
When I first moved to Portland DOTS was one of the few places serving food that was open late. I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the three times I went there I consistently got the shittiest service of my life. I'm not sure why: I know a guy who cooked for them, for example, adn he was super nice. Despite the fact that I'm polite and always tip at least 20%, I was so offended one time that I vowed to never go back. Their food's okay but not so good that you have to put up with the attitude. While I know that there are some perfectly good servers at DOTS, the shitty ones are enough to make it not worth going. - Mina , posted 06/17/05

GRUB
Dots has a great menu filled with both Vegan and carnivourous foods. This place is the place to go in SE if you're looking for some chilli cheese fries. BE WARNED!!! you may need a strong stomach to handle the goodness. Plus one of the servers has HOT DOGS & BURGERS tattooed on her body. Now thats some dedication/admiration/ or is it just crazy. Either way, its well worth checking out. - DoJe , posted 06/17/05

Enterained, mainly, by the wallpaper
I've been here a few times, either for a burger and fries (which are really great), or just to have a drink. Most of my friends don't smoke, so having one half of the bar's total area open to smokers was pleasant, without being rude to nons. Inexpensive with the coolest gold/black wallpaper. - Unsubscribed , posted 06/01/05

The old standby
Good food, relaxed atmosphere. I love Dots when it's too much work to figure out where else to go. - blank , posted 10/05/04

best place to skip High School (preferably Cleveland H.S.)
Dots Cafe has been my stomping grounds since I was in high school. it's got cheap food (though i do remember when french fries were only a dollar.... "Shut up geezer!"), cute waitresses, nice owner, and good music. Actually, here is were I vent about Dots Cafe introducing my dad to the Zombies and his subsequent (and, relentless) love for all things "garage band" esque. Thanks Dots, thanks. - Kimothy , posted 10/05/04
