its closed! at least it was as of 11/2007
i spoke with the gal at the counter next door at common grounds flotation. apparently they did not make their target for reopening after remodeling and so are closed indefinately. when someone can say they are open, please inform everyone.

I miss the tubs! - jOe , posted 11/30/07

Worth the $11 an hour
I went on a Saturday night at 6:00 and it wasn't that crowded. When I read that it was clothing optional I figured that a few people may not wear a suit. When I arrived with my suit in bag and then had a tour I came to the realization that nobody wears a suit. Where else in Portland can you roam free of clothes and in forced mixed company. After the first 10 minutes you get use to seeing the skin of every shape and size and really start to admire the human form and find beauty in that men and women can enjoy relaxing together with out anything on and not have it be sexual in any nature. Thank you Inner City Hot Tubs for a great place where one can be free and not all wrapped up in a wet suit that clings to you. When you are relaxed it is amazing how fast an hour can go. If you have a fear of being seen by someone this is the best way to get over it. Size of anything doesn't matter here and it is a comforting feeling. Sitting in a hot tub when it is raining and conversing with people you have never met nor will you more than likely see again unless of coarse you go there often enough, is a cool thing. Once the clothing is off you don't know what the background is of someone. So kudos once again to ICHT for having a place so unique yet so accepting. - C , posted 11/04/06

You get points for arriving via bicycle!
Love this place for the warm interiors, ladies only hours, and oodles of relaxation in a peaceful residential neighborhood. Really not alot of things better than soaking under the trees and stars, and the sauna is a wonderful way to end your stay on the grounds. I feel so comfortable here, and the staff are all really kind. Sink into the lobby's couch and enjoy juices, teas, kombucha drinks, while you wait to go in, or rally to leave...
Truly the best way to unknot my mind and unravel the worries of my heart. - mr e , posted 05/13/06

Great Retreat
Common Ground is a mecca of massage, sauna and hot tubs! The massage sandwich is a great one (tub, massage, tub). People should be aware that the tubs are clothing optional, and most people opt out.

For LMT's one can't do better than Jane Garbisch:
