Hey y'all! Polish up your big red noses and strap on your gi-normous feet and squirty flowers! It's time for Clowns Night Out!!
Kaj-anne has opened his space up for us to get ready before trouncing and careening the town. His house can be found at 2740 NE MLK JR. BLVD next to the barbershop next the bridges on knott and mlk. parking on Knott street is preferable. We'll be gettin ready between 7PM - 10PM; come get your Clown on and let's create our collective intention for the evening. You're invited to bring snacks & refreshments and some extra drag for your siblings. You'll want to be warm and potentially waterproof, in the off chance some bars prove inhospitable to our clowny antics.
This clown night happens to fall on Friday, November 23. Traditionally, the Friday after Thanksgiving is the day when the credit card expenditure in this country outweighs the national treauries of many small countries. For the sake of this invitation, we will call that day Buy Nothing Day. There is a thought to have part of our intention to be to Buy Nothing whilst we do our work. "But it's a Friday! What about bar covers?!" Excellent question, Sally. What about them? Creative solutions and perspectives welcomed.
What intention can a bunch of queer-doe clowns craft for their relvelry that will have the general middle-queer populace become aware of and question consumerism & conspicious consumption and its insidious injection into the heart of mainstream gay culture? (I don't know, but we hope you do.)
Clowns on the Town Will be starting in Old Town at Fox & Hound at 10PM, Hitting the bars in that area (CC Slaughters, Embers, Boxxes) and making our way towards Vasoline Alley (Silverado, Eagle) to finish up the night. This plan is tentative, and open to discussion and the intervention of Spirit.
I've heard this may be one of the last times Silverado is avialable to a bunch of clowns. Let's make it count.
